Update 20/10/22

Hello and welcome to our first Spiritsweeper update! We plan to post these regularly over the course of the game's development, so keep your eyes peeled for future posts on our progress.

Here's what we've been up to so far:

After a change of direction from our initial game concept, work on Spiritsweeper began! The magical world that Reenie and Oose call home was developed, and work towards our first vertical slice is now well under way.

Narrative

Narrative designer Katie has put together a lore document and developed a narrative outline for the game, and has recently completed first draft of the dialogue for the first level of Spiritsweeper.

Art

Artist Lou has been producing concept art and is now in the process of making the blackout model for Reenie!

Design

Designers Steven, Samson and Dan have been creating level blockouts for the various houses that the player will be able to clean, adding lighting and assets created in Probuilder.

Programming

Programmer Daisy has worked with feedback from peers to improve the player movement and camera experience.

Programmer Ross has been working on a game mechanic that will be a core part of our game and how you interact and capture the spirits -  a mix of AI and Gameplay Programming with a combination of 2D and 3D elements.

Programmer Jacob has been working on the cleaning mechanic for inspectable objects.

Animation

Animator Kevin has been busy animating the plant pot spirit, and has been organising animation reference shoots to help characterise Reenie's movements.

That's all for now folks, we look forward to telling you more soon!
